Philosophy An Active Investment Approach For An Efficient Market
Monetta is not your traditional money manager in that we do not use a formalistic investment approach. We feel the market is too efficient for one investment style or approach to work consistently over various market cycles. It is our philosophy that the more efficient the market the greater the need for an active management style to take advantage of changing investor sentiment.
We believe in the efficient market theory and that investing is an art. Monetta's investment process requires constant analysis, interpretation and reaction to new information to adjust to changing investor expectations and possible shifts in market trends. Being an art, we don't invest or color by number but rather use a freestyle approach to identify changing market trends. At times the market will lead us toward momentum type stocks, other times to defensive securities or sectors that demonstrate increased investor interest. We therefore use a combination of top-down and bottom-up investment process to determine what sectors and stocks to overweight. In other words, our investment approach is flexible, in that the market, itself, is our leading indicator and guide to portfolio weightings.
Today, the Monetta Family of Mutual Funds offers diversified investment opportunities, low minimum investments, retirement accounts, children's savings programs, an automatic investment program, and electronic and telephone transactions. We are continually developing new programs and services to help our shareholders - market newcomers and experienced investors alike - achieve their financial goals.
The Mission of Monetta
Our mission is to assist our shareholders in reaching the financial goals they set for themselves and their families. We do this by creating a range of investment products that attempt to meet specific and individual needs. We then strive to generate above-average performance results through an active and focused team-managed investment approach.
An automatic investment plan does not assure a profit and does not protect against a loss in a declining market. Such a plan involves continuous investment in securities regardless of fluctuating price levels, and investors should consider their financial ability to continue purchases through periods of low price levels.
